All voyages will be aboard Aurora Expeditions’ new state-of-the-art vessel, the Greg Mortimer, which launches in October 2019.

The Greg Mortimer

Purpose built for adventure, the Greg Mortimer features a distinctive inverted bow design. Unlike traditional vessels that rise on waves and then dip back down, the ship’s revolutionary Ulstein X-Bow® is less subject to vertical motion, as it carves through the waves.

The 104-metre ice class 1A expedition ship also features the latest technology. Virtual anchoring and dynamic positioning systems allow the ship to maintain position without using anchors, which protects the marine environment and makes launching watercraft from the activity platform easier.

When wildlife viewing and sweeping landscapes await, finding the right vantage point is key. Here the Greg Mortimer really excels. In addition to multiple open-air observation areas, which offer 180-degree forward views and 270-degree aft-views, guests can also take advantage of innovative fold-out, hydraulic viewing platforms at the side of the ship for unobstructed, close-up views.

While expedition cruising generally includes 2-3 landings per day, the ship offers comfortable surrounds in which to relax at the end of each exciting day. Learn more with informative talks in the lecture theatre, rest in your spacious cabin or mingle with fellow travellers in the observation lounges. There is also a wellness centre including a fully-equipped gymnasium, massage room, sauna and spa.
