Travel Alert: Typhoon Hato Impacts Hong Kong Travel

23rd August 2017

Around midnight last night, Tropical Cyclone Hato was upgraded to a Typhoon Category 8 which is the third highest typhoon rating. As a direct result, there are mass flight cancellations in and out of Hong Kong (HKG) today as Typhoon Hato makes landfall.

We have the following advice:

  • The majority of Cathay Pacific (CX) services in and out of HKG have been cancelled between 0600 and 1700 (local time) today (Wednesday 23 August)
  • Hong Kong Airlines (HX) has suspended all arrivals and departures between 0700 and 1700 today
  • All ferry services between Hong Kong International Airport and Pearl River Delta and Macao have been cancelled today

Please also see the Hong Kong Airport (HKG) website for more information.

You can refer directly to the website of your airline for flight information and also note, some services are still scheduled to operate but this may change.
