Some of the world's best cruise lines have been announced and celebrated for going above and beyond in service.
Cruise Critic, a leading cruise reviews and information site, named the best cruise lines, ships and ports for 2013. Here are some of the award winning picks this year.
The winner of Best for Luxury is Regent Seven Seas Cruises, noted for excellent dining , service and pure luxury.
Princess Cruises took the crown for offering the Best Itineraries. The line visits hundreds of ports, opening up the world to its passengers and offering a variety of different experiences.
Oceania Cruises won for Best Dining. Each ship has four restaurants that offer a range of cuisine, from cafe style options to fine dining and health foods. It also took out the title for Best Suites, thanks to their extra-luxurious touch.
The Best Standard Cabins award went to Celebrity Cruises. Its standard cabins are larger than the industry average and its comforts, like bathrobes and custom toiletries, go above and beyond what's usually on offer. Cabins also have modern decor and heavenly comfortable bedding.
Celebrity Cruises also won for Best Cruise Ship Bar, awarded to its Martini Bar. Its bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and skilled, talented at flipping bottles and pouring drinks at high speed. It's the perfect location for cocktail and evening entertainment.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line won for Best Entertainment for the third year in a row. That's in thanks to its impressive entertainment options like Broadway performances, aerial shows and ice skating productions.
"Over the past year, our editors have covered every major ocean and river cruise line in the world - around 75 cruise lines, representing more than 400 ships," said Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor-in-chief of Cruise Critic.
"Choosing the best out of that list is always a tough task; there are so many fantastic offerings available, and lines are constantly improving their products. Taking all of this into account, this list represents the ships and lines that we feel have gone above and beyond this year."
