Bali's Sophisticated Side

7th October 2014

We recently wrote about Alan Reis's delightful journey to Bali, where he had the pleasure of staying at Kemala Villa. This secluded five star property located just north of Seminyak, in the lush and tranquil surrounds of palm trees and rice fields, features everything from outdoor showers, a private chef, swimming pool and tropical gardens.

As promised, we wanted to have a look at some of the other highly rated hotel properties that Alan, who is the manager of Reis & James Travel Associates, was able to experience during his Bali stay. With so many hotels, resorts and inns to choose from in this popular holiday destination, finding that perfect hotel or resort can make all the difference in ones holiday enjoyment.

Here are two well known Bali hotels that consistently rank among the best.

Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay

With 1 and 2 bedroom villas and 3, 4, and 5 bedroom residences, all with their own private plunge pools, Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay, is one of Bali’s most exclusive resorts. Known the world over for its luxurious accommodation and impeccable service, a stay at the Four Seasons is sure to be a memorable one.

Situated on the ocean front along one of Bali’s most beautiful stretches of beach, this exclusive resort not only offers elegantly appointed rooms and villas but a host of activities ranging from tennis courts, water sports, an extensive fitness centre, a cooking school as well as spa and massage facilities.

Of course what would a world-class resort be without the best in bar and dining facilities? According to Alan, the Sundara Bar is a must do. Sundara Bar has the “best range of cocktails I’ve seen in ages,” said Alan, and they’re “all put together by a famous Spanish cocktail expert.” With a Happy Hour during sunset and stunning ocean views, this is the perfect place to unwind no matter what time of day.

From the pool side Terrace Cafe to fine dining restaurants serving both Indonesian and international cuisine, there is always a great mix on offer when it comes to delicious food. Guests can even choose to dine in one of the resorts secluded ocean front gazebos or in the privacy of their own villa.

The lush tropical grounds and pristine beachfront location make this a favourite destination for those looking for a secluded, upscale Bali experience. With elegant rooms and a wide range of activities, guests may never want to leave this oasis on the sea.

Double-Six Luxury Suites

This swanky new beach front property has turned the Seminyak hotel scene on its head. Having taken the name of the popular nightclub which once stood on the site, the hotel offers luxurious, boutique style accommodation. Located right on the beach, Double Six is the perfect place to experience the best of Bali.

With a modern, funky decor, Double Six aims to showcase Bali’s sophisticated side. Bold colours and original furnishings, the hotel has a refined, urban feel with all the comforts one would expect from a five star property.

Alan noted that while all of the rooms he inspected were attractive, functional and large, Travel Associates clientele would most likely prefer the picturesque views offered with the Ocean View Leisure Suites and the 2 Bedroom Master Suite with Ocean View. With truly uninterrupted views of the white sand beaches, crystal blue waters and unforgettable Balinese sunsets, these rooms also offer a greater sense of privacy.

Famed Aussie restaurateur Robert Marchetti has designed the four chic dining venues in the hotel with menus offering the best in Italian, seafood and Balinese cuisine. Opening in August 2014 and described as a “playground for sensory pleasure,” the classy rooftop bar will be the perfect place to relax and unwind and enjoy the sweeping coastal views. Skewered bar food is sure to be taken to unique heights as it will be prepared within the rooftop bar’s built in fire pit.

With contemporary design, upscale amenities and facilities, and a glittering beachfront pool, Double Six is sure to become one of Seminyak’s premier destinations for dining, accommodation and nightlife.
