APT Introduces New River Cruise Ships In Myanmar

25th February 2016

Luxury in Myanmar has two new names: RV Samatha and RV Princess Panhwar. The APT Group recently launched its two new luxury river cruise ships on maiden voyages from Yangon to Mandalay.

"Launching one new river ship in any destination, let alone one that’s emerging, is certainly something to celebrate. But to introduce two at the same time is testament to the experience and dedication off our staff," said Robert McGeary director for the APT Group.

"These two vessels represent a significant investment by the APT Group. In particular they illustrate the long standing commitment of the APT Group to river cruising in Asia," he said.

RV Samatha

RV Samatha, owned by APT, features 30 luxurious and spacious suits (27-48.7 square metres), all of which have outside-facing windows or balcony.

APT's renowned all-inclusive cruising is one of the ship's highlights, with a generous range of gourmet cuisine at two restaurants and drinks in an air-conditioned lounge and bar..

The ship is also blessed with a sun-decked swimming pool, day spa and observation deck.

Furthering the trend of celebrity chefs on cruises, guests on board RV Samatha are served dinners designed by chef and APT Asia Ambassador Luke Nguyen. Those willing to pay can also enjoy an exclusive degustation menu in a private dining room.

RV Princess Panhwar

Premium river cruising is found on RV Princess Panhwar, owned by Travelmarvel, which boasts 36 staterooms with either French or outside balcony (sizes range from 26-42.5 square metres).

Guests can also enjoy on-board luxuries such as spa and massage, sun lounging in an air conditioning and all-inclusive meals, drinks and certain shore excursions.

Available shore excursions for both ships include:

  • Explore Inwa by horse-drawn carriage
  • The Bagan Archaeological Zone
  • Bogyoke Aung San Market in Yangon
  • Shwedagon Pagoda

Availability for 2016 departures is now limited, with only a handful of dates between September and December (APT), and only December for Travelmarvel. However, both vessels are now taking bookings for 2017 holidays.
