Etihad offers daily direct service from Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney to its home base of Abu Dhabi. From there, the airline flies to over 120 cities around the world, including London, Frankfurt, Paris and New York. And because of Etihad’s convenient codeshare service with Virgin Australia, guests can make quick and easy connections from virtually anywhere the Australian airline flies.
Reflecting the importance that Etihad Airways places on the Australian market, the airline has introduced all new Airbus A380 service between Abu Dhabi and Sydney and Melbourne. The airline has also upgraded its offerings from Brisbane and Perth, with daily flights now being operated by the popular Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Featuring the airline’s all new interior, passengers can expect even greater levels of comfort and privacy. The airline has also refreshed the cabin interiors on its Boeing 777 fleet to match the superior in-flight product offered on the Dreamliner and super jumbo A380. The product consistency across its fleet has garnered Etihad a reputation for quality service and comfort, surpassing its competition in every measure.
A special feature for families traveling with children, Etihad offers a Flying Nanny. Trained in childcare, the nannies are there to entertain, with a kit full of games and activities at their disposal. Whether it’s to help get the kids to sleep, or to simply lend a helping hand, the Flying Nanny makes the flight that much more comfortable for families.

Etihad operates six daily flights from Australia to Abu Dhabi. The airline operates a daily 787 Dreamliner from Brisbane, and from Perth. Two daily flights depart Melbourne and Sydney, one on the A380 and the second on a Boeing 777. Etihad operates one of the youngest fleets in the industry:

From 2016, Etihad will take delivery of the state-of-the-art Airbus A350. These planes will replace all A340s by the end of 2017.
There are several ways in which to check-in for an Etihad operated flight. Online check-in is available between 24 and 2 hours before departure. Boarding passes can be printed, or saved electronically to a mobile device when checking-in on a smart phone or tablet. Mobile boarding passes are not available from Australia cities.
Guests may check-in at the airport. Priority check-in lanes are available for First and Business Studio guests as well as for Etihad Guest and Virgin Australia Velocity Gold and Platinum members. Airport check-in counters open 3 to 4 hours before departure. All guests must be checked in for their flight a minimum of 60 minutes before departure. Failure to do so may result in denied boarding and loss of fare.
The airline also offers a 24 hour city check-in facility in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Abu Dhabi facility is located across from Abu Dhabi Mall. Guests may check-in here between 24 and 4 hours before departure. Dubai’s facility is located on Sheikh Zayed Road where guests must check-in a minimum 6 hours before departure.
Luxury and privacy are taken to the next level with three suites making up the The Residence. The Living Room includes a double-seat sofa with ottoman, two dining tables, a chilled drinks cabinet and 32-inch flat screen TV. The Ensuite Bathroom includes personal bathrobes, exclusive amenities and a private shower. Finally the Bedroom includes a double bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and choice of pillows.
First Apartment & First Suite
Etihad has revolutionised First Class travel with the introduction of its spacious First Apartment and private First Suite. A complete living space for the traveller, the Apartment is available on the A380 and offers a relaxing arm chair, separate bed and lighted vanity cabinet. There’s even a shower in the First Class bathroom in which to freshen up. The First Suite can be found on Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The enclosed space comes complete with sliding doors, a plush lie-flat bed, concealed storage units and mood lighting. Fresh bedding and a personal turn-down service are available at any time during the flight.
First Class dining is a sumptuous affair. Guests are treated to a 5-star restaurant style experience with a personal inflight chef catering to every culinary need. Guests are offered a wide variety of menu options with the flexibility to dine at their leisure. The onboard Food and Service Manager provides each guest with an extensive Dine Anytime menu which features locally inspired meals, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. A selection of desserts and cheese plates are available as are a selection of recommended wines. Fine bone china and crystal glassware complement each serving.
Etihad offers an industry leading entertainment system with the best of Hollywood movies and regional film and TV programming. First Class guests can enjoy up to 750 hours’ worth of on-demand entertainment from a 24-inch TV monitor. Noise cancelling headsets are provided for superior sound quality. Each seat also comes equipped with USB ports and power points for the continued use of personal electronic devices.
First Class guests are permitted 2 bags with a maximum weight per bag of 32kg. Etihad Guest Silver, Gold and Platinum members receive additional allowances depending on the destination. The carry-on baggage allowance is the same regardless of destination. First Class guests may bring 2 bags into the cabin with a maximum total weight of 12kg.
Etihad’s 787 Dreamliner and A380 Business Studio seats continue to win awards for their style and state-of-the-art comfort features. The multi-functional space provides for plenty of room for laptops, tablets with USB ports built in to each studio. The wide seat reclines to a fully flat 6 foot, 1-inch-long bed for a restful sleep. A fluffy pillow and duvet are available along with a personalised turn-down service on longer flights. The advanced seats also feature a massage and lumbar support function and lighting controls for ambient lighting.
Business Studio is a luxury full-service experience. Enjoy the personalised service from an onboard staff that includes a Food and Beverage Manager. After boarding each guest will be offered a glass of champagne or juice, as well as a Dine Anytime menu that includes a full selection of locally inspired meals. Guests have the choice of a starter, a main dish and dessert options, as well as drinks from an extensive wine and beverage list. The flexible dining option means you can dine at any time during the flight.
Over 750 hours of on-demand entertainment is streamed to 18 inch touch screen TVs in Business Studio (787 Dreamliner and Airbus A380 services). From Hollywood movies to TV shows and music, every guest will find a wide selection of programming to suit their taste. All First and Business Class guests are provided with noise-cancelling headsets for optimum sound quality. Business Studio even features USB ports for the continuous charging of personal devices. Watch your own programming directly from your laptop, table or smartphone.
Similar to First Class, Business Class guests are permitted 2 checked bags. Each bag has a maximum weight of 32kg. Etihad Guest Silver, Gold and Platinum members receive an additional allowance which varies depending on the destination. The carry-on allowance also mirrors First Class with 2 bags permitted in the Business cabin. The total combined weight of both bags must not exceed 12kg.
The Economy Class Smart Seat features several advancements, including a unique fixed wing headrest for optimal comfort when sleeping or watching a movie. Slim line seats increase leg room and a six inch recline allows for a restful sleep. Economy Class guests are also provided with a pillow and full sized fleece blanket.
A full meal with choice of main is served on every Etihad flight. Typical choices include a vegetarian option, and two choices inspired by regional flavours. A selection of beers and wine are complimentary.
Guests will enjoy the hundreds of movie, TV and music selections on the Smart Seat 11-inch touch-screen. Connection ports are available at each seat for personal electronic devices.
Club Lounges & Alliances
Etihad likes to think of its premium Abu Dhabi lounges as more boutique hotel than airline lounge. Features found in these upscale terminal retreats include a complete international buffet and à la carte dining, a spa and shower rooms, a relaxation and TV viewing area, full bar and a business centre. In addition to Abu Dhabi, Etihad’s Premium Lounge can be found in Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Manchester, Paris, Sydney and Washington D.C.
Etihad Guest Gold and Platinum frequent flyers also have access to Virgin Australia’s 11 domestic lounges across Australia as well as international lounges operated by other codeshare partners.
