Sally is a glass-half-full kind of person. Not many people would paint the time they were hit by a bike in a positive light. And yet, Sally says it is one of her most memorable travel experiences.
“I was touring around East Africa and was hit by a bike in Malawi!” Sally says. “Luckily, I was okay. The locals took me along to their Sunday church service so I could thank the Lord for saving my life. Then I ended up back at the Minister’s house for lunch!”
The incident wasn’t enough to scare Sally away from other adventurous activities. “I love skiing and Park City in Utah is home to some of the best slopes I’ve ever seen,” she says. Sally says she has booked many a ski holiday in Canada and Japan as well, for those looking to shred outside the USA.
Sally has hiked her way to the top of Wayna Picchu, (the lesser known but equally beautiful mountain of Peru) and recommends it to those seeking a unique view of Macchu Picchu.
"When I looked down over the stunning Incan citadel, it was all worth it. I remember hearing beautiful Peruvian pipe music echoing through the valley.”
If you aren't yet feeling as though your athletic efforts pale in comparison to Sally's, try this on for size: she successfully completed, the New York Marathon. To make you feel better, though, she will tell you the best part was retiring to the timelessly elegant The Plaza Hotel. "The glamour and sophistication of their iconic suites are just amazing at the best of times," she says. "Let alone when all you want to do is be still, rest and relax!"
After working in the travel industry for more than 20 years, Sally says there are just too many incredible places in the world to be able to choose a favourite.
