At the age of 19, Blair lived and studied on campus at a university in Peterborough, Canada. It was her first independent trip overseas and a huge eye-opener. When she wasn’t hitting the books, she was exploring Ottawa and Niagara Falls, or strolling through the French-Canadian cities.
This chapter of her life ignited within her a passion for travel. Rather than return home at the end of her degree, she extended her holiday and went on to explore the USA. Her time spent in America cemented her aspiration to work in the travel industry.
Since then, Blair has arranged countless amazing holidays for clients, from relaxed beach holidays to complicated cultural treks, and everything in between. One particular client who stands out in her mind is a woman who had never been overseas before. She wanted to plan a once-in-a-lifetime holiday to Canada and Alaska for her and her husband’s 25th wedding anniversary.
Blair spent hours walking her client through the various options, so she could confidently make decisions about the trip. The couple chose to cruise the Canadian Rockies, and Alaska, finishing in the stunning Denali National Park. Knowing it was a special occasion, Blair secretly organised a suite upgrade for their cruise. “They were completely blown away, and phoned me to say thank you,” Blair says. “They could hardly get the words out between all the happy tears!”
This is just one example of how Blair goes the extra length with her travel management. Stopping over in Dubai? Blair will recommend a world-class hotel, which is an experience in itself. If you’re considering a holiday in Central America, be sure to ask Blair about Guatemala. Of all the amazing places she’s been, this tops the list as her favourite. “I’ll never forget my expedition through the sacred caves,” she says. “I wore a helmet with a torch and climbed and swam through an intricate underground maze. I saw where a Mayan community used to live to escape the hunters. Full human bones lay there, completely preserved in the underground cave. It was simply unbelievable.”
