Our Manager, Alan, has managed Flight Centre stores in Canberra since 2001 and is a multi award winner with Flight Centre achieving Number 1 Consultant in the ACT in 2005.
Alan is well known to many in Canberra particularly in the sporting community. Prior to travel, Alan worked in the sports industry and for some years had a professional soccer career. He specialises in group travel, more specifically sports and special interest touring.
Alan has travelled extensively in Asia, having been based in Hong Kong for 4 years in the 1990's. He has also travelled through the USA, South Africa, Europe and the Pacific.
For a special interest, or a sporting holiday such as The World Cup, Wimbledon, a majors golf tournament or similar, contact Alan for assistance.
Carole Parker has over 20 years experience in the travel industry and is a Europe and UK travel expert with in depth local knowledge gained from living in Europe for 12 years. Carole was first bitten by the travel bug aged 5 when she took her first flight on a plane. Her first overseas trip was an 8 week trip travelling throughout USA, favourite destinations were New Orleans watching the paddle boat steamers on the Mississippi, walking down Bourbon St listening to Jazz and Blues or visiting some of Americas many National Parks.
This led to a desire to have an overseas working holiday; Carole visited Egypt on her way to the UK, backpacked around France and Spain, before joining a Contiki Tour to Russia and Scandinavia before the fall of the Communism and the Berlin Wall. She promptly signed up to work with Contiki in their Venice Stopover.
For the next 6 years Carole lived in Venice and Florence and immersed herself in the Italian lifestyle. She is still passionate about Italian food and drink, the history of the country, architecture and way of life. Carole then travelled extensively throughout Central Europe, Russia and Scandinavia, as a Tour Manager working with a variety of companies before returning to Australia and joining Flight Centre and ultimately Travel Associates.
Carole can give you first hand advice of relaxing in a Tuscan Villa while taking day trips to some of the nearby towns such as the medieval town of San Gimignano, Puccini's home of Lucca, Siena to see the Palio ( Horse Race), Monte Pulciano for exquisite wines, Monte Catini Terme for roman baths, the Cinque Terre for rugged scenery, walks and resorts, and of course Florence the birthplace of the Renaissance and Florentine Football, where the teams play in period costume of the Renaissance, it is a mixture of Greco-Roman Wrestling, Football and Soccer, There are only two rules to this game, no guns and no knives.
Paris is another favourite of Carole's where she can give advice on visiting out of the ordinary places such as a Sewer Tour of Paris, which explores a virtual city beneath the city of Paris, with the tunnels used by the French Resistance during the German occupation of the Second World War.
Carole has spent several winters in Austria and Switzerland and knows the best ski fields and most stunning drives. Whether you are looking to explore the ski fields of the Tyrol, visit Zermatt and the Matterhorn, or you are interested in driving over mountain passes from Switzerland to Italy, past Davos and St Moritz down into the Trentino Alto-Adige Valley, or visiting Chamonix with its Glacier and the imposing Mont Blanc, then Carole can help you with her personal experience.
Carole has explored the world for personal pleasure and has trekked in Nepal and India, basked on the islands of Fiji, Vanuatu, Noumea, Hawaii and has cruised the South West Pacific. She has also visited Singapore, Bali, Thailand and Japan. But even with all of these travel delights, Europe and the UK are still Carole's favourite destinations and she regularly returns there to visit her family and friends.
Her most memorable travel experiences include drinking champagne and watching the world go by, while sitting in the greatest drawing room in all of Europe St Marks Square listening to the music of Florien's, tasting exotic delicacies at a cooking school in Thailand, trekking to the awe inspiring base camp of Mt Everest, watching the Polar Bear Club swimming out to icebergs in St Petersburg, going to the Theatre in London's West End, watching St Bernard pups in training in Wengen, visiting the wild beauty of Connemara in Ireland, cruising up the Rhine River past the medieval castles of the Feudal Overlords built to protect the lands by marauders, and to collect tolls from the Rhine River transportation, or wandering through the Christmas Markets in Germany drinking warm Gluhwein.
No matter where you are planning on travelling to, Carole's greatest enjoyment is helping to plan her client’s adventures and hearing about all of their experiences on their return.
With more than six years experience in the travel industry Nikki enjoys meeting people interested in travel and making their holidays come to life. The most satisfying part of her role is when a client tells her about the fantastic time they had away and knowing she had a small part in that.
Nikki has travelled to a range of destinations each offering something different from the next. Her first hand destination knowledge extends from the USA, Canada and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico to the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Austria and Greece. Nikki has also explored many parts of Asia including China, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore. Her experiences in Fiji, New Zealand and across Australia give her a well rounded understanding of destinations both overseas and closer to home.
There are two rather different holidays that come to mind when Nikki reflects on her favourite travel memories. The first is the undisputable joy of spending New Years Eve at Disneyland with her family when she was ten years old. However more recently she embarked on a three month round the world holiday with a girlfriend which was such an experience that the task of identifying one favorite memory is genuinely impossible.
Nikki has identified China as her absolute favorite destination. She believes the combination of China’s food, people, culture and shopping constitute a holiday that simply cannot be faulted. Nikki has her compass set on Africa for her next destination and suspects this could take the number one spot.
