Egan & Turner Travel Associates is based in Cairns, and is part of the national Travel Associates brand. Personal travel consultation is available by appointment from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Our manager, Paul Egan, has been a Travel Consultant for over 13 years. Paul loves that no two days in travel are the same. He also enjoys helping people to experience the joy of learning about the world and its different people and cultures.
Paul extensive and interesting list of visited destinations includes Canada, USA, Hawaii, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Caribbean, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, UK, Ireland, France, Russia, Scandinavia, Italy, Croatia, Netherlands, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Bali (20 times!), Vietnam, Laos, Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Kirabati, Vanuatu, Fiji, NZ, PNG, UAE, Borneo, Japan, Korea, Kenya, Tanzania, Guam and Saipan. He has also lived and worked in UK and the Caribbean, and he went to school for awhile in Peru.
Paul can't settle on just one favourite place to visit. "I am addicted to travel and love everywhere that I go. There has not been one country I have not enjoyed," he says.
"If I had to decide then maybe Peru or Nepal. Australia is such a vast country and we have all kinds of things, but we don't have mountains. Papua New Guinea is also a favourite. It's totally undiscovered, absolutely beautiful, has warm friendly people and it's right on our doorstep."
The thing Paul enjoys most is meeting new people from different cultures. "Once I was sitting in the Plaza de Armas in Cusco, waiting for the sun to set for the perfect photo and I started up a conversation with a local there, we then went for a beer to keep chatting, me to practice my Spanish and him to practice English," Paul recalls.
"We caught up again the next day along with my 2 travelling companions. He invited us to his uni graduation in a few days time followed by lunch at a local restaurant. My friends were very skeptical and thought that we would end up paying for everything so were reluctant to go. How wrong they were. Graduation is a big thing there and he was graduating alone. We were picked up by a car and taken to a huge party with a huge amount of local delicacies to eat and treated like honoured guests. The Dean of the university even made a special speech welcoming and thanking us for coming. You need to be cautious but not so much so that you miss out on the best part of travelling, meeting people."
Paul specialises in cruising, adventure tours, diving, Asia and South America.
Sharon Loughins has been a Travel Consultant since 2000 and has loved every minute of it. Travel is her lifetime passion and her job gives her the opportunity to share that passion with others.
Sharon has done it all - from speed boating around Lake Como, mopeding around the Mykonos and watching the sunset at Oia, Santorini to trekking in Nepal, sitting amongst 400 000 penguins in Antarctica. In fact, Antarctica is her favourite place to visit. The breathtaking beauty of the region and sheer magnitude of the landscape amazed her… and the penguins were cute too!
The list of visited destinations for Sharon is extensive and includes most of Australia, France, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, Scotland, Wales, Holland, Buenos Aires, Antarctica, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Fiji, Vanuatu, Guam, Hawaii, Dubai, Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, Kuala Lumpur, Bali, most of the States, Vancouver and Whistler.
Her specialty is skiing but Sharon is ready to assist with any holiday you can dream up.

Heidi has been consulting for 12 years. Originally from the UK, Heidi is very familiar with Europe including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, Sweden, Czech Republic, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey. After leaving the UK she lived in South East Asia for close to 10 years, mostly in Thailand, and holidaying in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, China, Korea, Hong Kong. She has also visited the US, Canada, Fiji, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, PNG, Guam, New Zealand, Egypt and Peru.
For Heidi, the best part of being a consultant comes from looking at, learning about and helping others experience, so many wonderful, fascinating and exciting destinations and adventures. Among her favourite experiences is her first glimpse of Machu Picchu, her first dive with a whale shark, getting lost in Amsterdam and discovering the best jazz bar in the Northern Hemisphere, cruising the Nile as the sun set and first powder snow in Japan.
Her favourite destinations are Venice, Amsterdam and Prague for their stunning architectural history that sits alongside a modern and vibrant city pulsing with life, art, music and style. She also loved Egypt and Peru for connecting with lost cultures, New Zealand for its beautiful and great outdoors and adventure.

Chris started his travels in the early 70's, heading towards London, taking a ship for 6 weeks, visiting 14 countries across the Pacific, Panama Canal, through the Med to Italy then by train to London, where within days he started working.
From London it became, "have Kombi - will travel". Driving throughout the UK, Europe and down to Morocco with friends he made on the ship.
The travelling has continued:- be it group tours, adventure travel to destinations as diverse as the Inca Trail and the Trans Siberian Rail from Beijing to St Petersburg. Its been a good mix of luxury, leisure, adventure, Skiing and Cruising on parts of all of the continents, except Antarctica and thats on his bucket list also. Till that day he will have to make do with David Attenbrough's DVD of Frozen Planet.
His favourite continent is South America and his favourite city is Istanbul, but thats subject to change.
Having earned an Hounour Diploma in Travel and Tourism, whilst living in the USA, Chris has over 18 years as a Travel Consultant. His experience, customer service and patience will ensure you of a memorable holiday.
Chris specializes in South America, Vietnam and loves the challenge of itineraries for clients who look to step outside the square.
