Gourmet Tour of Southern Italy

Ashmore and James Travel Associates is offering a fully-escorted 15-day tour that tastes its way from Bari to Catania and is hosted by Melbourne restaurateur Tony Bizzarri.

Lovers of Italian food and wine can learn local recipes, trace the coastline and visit ancient villas on this unique tour in southern Italy, from April 11 to 25 next year.

The gourmet tour will visit Lecce, Otranto, Alberobello, Positano, Palermo, Ischia, Segesta, Trapani, Agrigento and Taormina.

Gourmands willl participate in morning and afternoon cooking classes, visit a local cheese factory and pasta maker, enjoy an olive-oil tasting and taste sweet Marsala at a historic winery.

The tour also takes in historic sights including a visit to the Valley of the Temples dating back to 440BC. Explore the Archaeological museum and many artifacts from the site in Agrigento. Also discover the ancient sites in Sicily and the historic Abbey of San Martino plus other medieval monuments.

Your experience includes 14 nights 4 star accommodation, breakfast daily, 4 lunches, 3 dinners, 3 cooking classes, wine and food tastings, sightseeing, private coach transport and first class ferry cabin with private facilities.
