In 2008 the Bombing of Darwin Commemoration will be held on Tuesday, 19th February at the Cenotaph. WWII air raid sirens will be heard at 9:58am ....the sounding coincides with the exact time of the commencement of the initial attack on Darwin by Japanese aircraft on 19 February 1942.
This tour incorporates the Commemoration Service at the Darwin Cenotaph, various activities organised by the Darwin City Council, with the opportunity to add an extension travelling on The Ghan - one of the world's great train journeys, 2979 kms across the continent.
Package includes economy airfares from Melbourne to Darwin and Darwin to Melbourne, 6 nights accommodation in Darwin at Darwin Central Hotel and activities organised by the Darwin City Council (veterans only).
