  • Experience the finest mountain scenery on Earth

    Annapurna Sanctuary

    from $1,569*

Described as a "classic trek", this incredible 14 day adventure takes in some of NepalÕs most spectacular mountains, forests and villages, making it a wonderful introduction to this amazing region. For many years now, the Annapurna Base Camp (also known as The Sanctuary) trek has been one of the most popular two-week treks in Nepal featuring some of the finest mountain scenery on earth. The Sanctuary is a great natural amphitheatre ringed by a number of the highest and most spectacular mountains in the world.

Starting from sub-tropical Naya Phul, on the banks of the Modi Khola River, the trail ascends through rice paddies and thatched villages of Hindu Brahmin and Chhettri people. As altitude is gained, the paddies turn to fields of wheat and barley, and the mountain views become closer and more dramatic.

From day one, the trek is back-dropped by magnificent mountain views, including the beautiful snow-capped fish-tail peak of Machapuchare. After the last permanent village at Chomrong, the trail enters a dramatic steep-sided valley that leads to the wilds of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Inside the Sanctuary we have two nights in lodges, allowing fantastic close-up views of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna South (7237m) and Machapuchare (6993m). At almost 4200m the scenery is breathtaking.

Eventually and reluctantly you turn to retrace your steps down the valley, before returning to Pokhara. Here we have a full day to relax at this lakeside town before flying back to Kathmandu.

  • Take in incredible views of Everest, Cho Oyu and other Himalayan giants while exploring two awe-inspiring valleys of the Khumbu region

Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes

    from $1,970*

HIGHLIGHTS: Kathmandu - Lukla - Namche Bazaa - Gokyo Valley - Ngozumpa Glacier - Gokyo - Machhermo - Dingboche - Lobuje - Gorak Shep - Everest Base Camp - Kala Patar - Pheriche

The Gokyo and Khumbu Valleys are arguably the most dramatic and interesting of the Everest region. This trek explores friendly Sherpa villages, visits monasteries, seeks wildlife and unveils dramatic mountain scenery. We have two days in Kathmandu to experience one of Asia's most fascinating cities before flying to Lukla, the starting point of our trek.

We follow the Dudh Kosi Valley to Namche Bazaar and then trek into Gokyo Valley. The trail ascends gradually and we enjoy a series of short trekking days to ensure proper acclimatisation, walking beside the moraines of Ngozumpa Glacier and turquoise lakes to reach our lodge in Gokyo. From here we can climb Gokyo Ri (5360m) to a view of all of the region's 8000-metre peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu andndash; a breathtaking panorama. From Gokyo we trek via Phortse and Dingboche to rejoin the main trail to Everest, which we follow to Gorak Shep.

It is from here we make the round trip on a rugged trail to visit Everest Base Camp. However to get a better view of the mountain and a 360 degree panorama of many other Himalayan peaks, the short but steep climb to Kala Patar is the highlight for many on this trek. Here the climbing route up the mountain can be seen, showing the immense scale and difficulty involved for any climbing team attempting to climb Everest. Our return route heads back to Lukla via the beautiful Thyangboche Monastery.
