With the opening of the 1956 kilometre-long Qinghai-Tibet railway, a unique opportunity now exists to join a fascinating 4000 kilometre journey by rail between Lhasa and Beijing.
Commencing in Chengdu with a visit to the panda reserve to visit these adorable animals, this remarkable 20-day journey continues on to Lhasa where you will visit the Potala Palace, the Sera Monastery and Norpulinka, the former summer palace of the Dalai Lama.
Travel on to Shigatse and witness the Tashlihunpo Monastery and the largest shrine in Tibet, Gyantse Kumbum. Board the Qinghai-Tibet railway and continue on to Xian to visit the UNESCO Terracotta Warriors before travelling to Beijing where you will visit the Great Wall, Temple of Heaven and Forbidden City.
