Top 5 things to do in Queensland

26th February 2013

When it comes to Queensland, believe everything you hear.  Year round sunshine, some of the world’s best beaches, tropical rainforests and postcard perfect islands make the Sunshine State an ideal holiday option.  There is an endless list of things to see and do in Queensland but these 5 are a good start...

 Glamping:

“Glamorous camping” lets you sleep under a million stars in 5-star luxury... and no one does this better than Wilson Island.  Home to turtles and birds, Wilson Island is a tiny coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef.  Accommodating a maximum of 12 guests, this incredible slice of paradise is the perfect place to unplug from the world.

A day spa indulgence:

Whether your preference is golden beaches or green rainforests, Queensland has a day spa to suit.  Hayman (on its own private island) and qualia (on Hamilton Island) in the Whitsundays offer a range of treatments from massages through to naturopathy.  And in the Tamborine Mountains, The Escarpment’s Grecian Spa Bath is unmissable.

Walk for miles:

Head to Tropical North Queensland and you will find Port Douglas’ Four Mile Beach.  Just a 5 minute walk from town, this pristine beach stretches as far as the eye can see and is perfect for early morning and late afternoon strolls.  Further south, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts also offer kilometres of easy walking.

Explore the rainforest:

While you’re in Port Douglas, spend a day in the Daintree Rainforest.  The Daintree is the oldest living rainforest on earth and is home to the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people.  Take a dip in the crystal clear waters of Mossman River or hike around this amazing World Heritage-listed site.

Go sailing:

There are few better places in the world to go sailing than the Whitsundays.  The 74 islands of the Whitsundays offer calm waters, a myriad of marine wildlife and the perfect backdrop for relaxation.  Skipper your own yacht or employ the services of a professional skipper and crew.
