In March this year a group of Travel Associates consultants, including Kevin Garwood from Freedman & Turner Travel Associates, experienced the spectacular Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island in South Australia.
Your experience starts when you are met at the airport and whisked away by private transfer to the Lodge. Walking through the large entry doors you are greeted by stunning and uninterrupted views of the ocean's surf crashing against the cliffs. The view is nothing short of breathtaking.
With only 21 suites, accommodating a maximum of 50 guests, and no children under the age of six, the Lodge offers secluded luxury. All suites have commanding ocean views and outdoor sun bed for relaxation. Some of the suites have outdoor spas and there is a heated plunge pool in the main area.
I stayed in the Flinders Suite. The suite is large with a king bed and a sitting area which overlooks the cliffs and ocean. I could have sat there with a great book forever. The large bathroom offers complete privacy so you can enjoy a shower without closing out the scenery. I also viewed the Ocean Family Suite and Remarkable Suite - both of which are of the highest standard and will ensure nobody leaves disappointed.
Your stay at the lodge is inclusive of meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There is no need to open your wallet whilst here unless you want to indulge in a treatment or massage at the amazing Spa. The daily changing menu is sensational and includes a variety of locally produced foods. A range of fantastic wines are also offered to match your meal.
Private touring of magnificent Kangaroo Island is also included which you can chose to either do or not - I recommend you do. The island is very beautiful and has a lot to offer. I recommend Seal Bay, where you can walk amongst the sea lions in their own environment. You should also take time to see the natural wonder of Remarkable Rocks and Admirable Arch. Or you could go koala spotting to see the many koalas on the island, visit a local winery or go beach fishing. All of this is put together by the Lodge with its own special touch.
Southern Ocean Lodge will take your breath away with its total luxury, amazing food and friendly staff. You won't want to leave - I didn't.
