Lex Noller, from Noller & Turner Travel Associates recently travelled the beautiful Italian countryside experiencing the picturesque Cinque Terre, villas of Tuscany and the enchanting Lake Como region.
Italy, with it's magical mix of delicious food, stunning scenery and casual lifestyle, continues to delight millions of tourists each year and my Italian experience was no exception.
Moving north from Rome, we trained to Florence, the beautiful city of the Renaissance. Florence offers a very different experience to Rome. It's pedestrian streets offer a far more relaxing experience than the hustle and bustle of it's larger southern neighbour.
After a day trip to inspect villas in Tuscany (and of course, to enjoy some wine and olive oil tasting), we travelled further north to the wonderful Cinque Terre, the little coastal stretch of villages linked by a series of walking paths. We walked the famous "Via del'Amore" or "Lover's Walk" between Riomaggiore and Manarola and proceeded to visit several other of the famous "Five Lands" as well as towns further north such as Moneglia, Sestri Levante and Portofino.
Our trip ended in the one of the most stunning regions of Italy - Lake Como - with life around the lake just starting to open up after it's winter break. Nestled in the mountains on the Swiss - Italian border, Lake Como is every bit as beautiful as I had imagined. Stunning lake side villas and charming small towns such as Bellagio and Mennagio are backed by dramatic snow capped mountains.
Our tour was hosted by CIT, an Australian family owned company which has been specialising in travel to Italy for more almost 40 years.
