Indulgence in Oman

During June, a group of Travel Associates consultants experienced a memorable trip to Oman, staying at the world class Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay and travelling with Etihad in business class.

Our trip started with a red carpet welcome at the Etihad Business Class check-in - and only got better from here. On arrival to the aircraft door we were personally escorted to our seat by one of the stewards to make you feel welcome and help you get organised. Business Class Etihad has fully flat beds 180 degrees, a great entertainment system and a concept called 'anytime dining' . You are handed a wonderful menu with a multitude of options from full meals to snacks being served at any time during the flight. Similarly, there was no breakfast trolley, but the hostesses responding to your request of one of the 8 or so breakfast choices at any time you liked.

After a comfortable 4 hour coach mini bus transfer from Abu Dhabi, via the simple desert border crossing into Oman we viewed dramatic landscape all the way until we arrived at the Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay. The resort blends seamlessly into the surroundings, with the large sand coloured mountains providing a spectacular backdrop and the glistening ocean at your villa door.

We were fortunate to stay in a beachfront pool villa. The ocean was about 5 metres from the villa gates - total indulgence! There is a lovely main pool for anyone to use, but with each villa having its own pool there was little need to use it. With a double vanity, and a choice of a deep stone bath, a large indoor shower or an outdoor shower, a king size bed, and a large lounge room (complete with state of the art entertainment system) there was little need to leave the villa at all! All villa's come with a butler.

The Six Senses group is well known for its spa's and dining. All to indulge in our own senses. Zighy Bay didn't disappoint with an amazing day spa offering a very broad range of relaxing and holistic treatments. The restaurant food was incredible with a wide range of delicious organic fresh food available. One of the restaurants at the Resort , " Sense on The Edge " has just won the best restaurant in the middle east - beating all the 3 star Michelin restaurants in Dubai.

Six Senses Zighy Bay, Oman would make an ideal stopover for a few days for those who have already done the Dubai and Abu Dhabi stopover, or could be considered as a break combining the two destinations.
