Overview

Delta Air Lines is headquartered in Atlanta, on the grounds of the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta International. With daily flights between Los Angeles and Sydney and with a close marketing and code-share alliance with Virgin Australia, Delta has become a significant presence in the Trans-Pacific market. Both Delta and Virgin Australia fly between Sydney and Los Angeles, while the Brisbane to Los Angeles route is operated by Virgin Australia in conjunction with the code share agreement. Delta also maintains a code-share alliance with Virgin Atlantic for flights between the U.S. and London.

Further benefits with the Delta and Virgin Australia agreement include reciprocal frequent flyer benefits for Virgin Velocity and Delta SkyMiles members, the selling of tickets on each other's flights,  seamless connections with baggage transfer and lounge access for elite frequent flyer members. Additionally, Delta is also a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance. Delta SkyMiles members can also earn frequent flyer points on any of the 20 airlines in the alliance.

Fleet

Delta boasts a fleet of over 780 aircraft with a mix of both Airbus and Boeing planes. Check-in

Delta advises international passengers to arrive at the airport for check-in 3 hours before departure and have with them their tickets/flight itinerary, passports and any required visas for travel. Check-in counters close 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure and all guests must be checked in by this time. Failure to comply with these times could result in denied boarding, loss of fare or significant change fees.

For domestic flights within the U.S.A., passengers can also use Delta's self service kiosks which are available at every U.S. airport it serves. Passengers can select seats and print boarding passes in a few short steps.

Airport curbside check-in is another option. Available at 100 of Delta's busiest U.S. airports, Skycaps can check-in passengers and bags right outside, before even entering the airport. While the service is convenient and commonplace in the U.S., be aware that Skycaps are not direct employees of the airline and they will expect a tip for their baggage services.

Passengers can check-in online or via the Delta Air Lines app within 24 hours of departure. Online check-in may not be available at some destinations outside the U.S. Online check-in may not be available if the flight or itinerary includes a code-share partner flight.
