They love their cocktails in the USA and in Las Vegas there are more cool funky bars, taverns, cocktail lounges and even the occasional speakeasy than you can shake a, well, shaker at. Drinks are usually free if you are gambling. Tipping bartenders and waiters is essential, if you ever want to see them again.

The Chandelier Bar at The Cosmopolitan

The ultimate Vegas drinking venue, this three-level bar features a two million crystal floor-to-ceiling chandelier, designed to make patrons feel they are a part of its fabric. Casino bar with live music or DJ, cocktail bar and posh lounge on separate levels.

Mandarin Bar at Mandarin Oriental Hotel

No slot machines, no doof doof, no drunken youngsters screaming ‘skol skol’! Just a sophisticated cocktail lounge with superb views of the Strip from three of the four sides of the room. Upscale and alluring, think live jazz, bite-sized snacks, oversized leather chairs, a square bar and dim lighting. A hidden gem.

VISTA Cocktail Lounge at Caesars Palace

Clever, quirky and custom-crafted cocktails in a hi-tech surrounding that features virtual ‘VISTAS’ - skylines from around the world displayed on hi-tech LED screens. Order a Manhattan while viewing the Manhattan skyline. VISTA starts the evening as a quiet cocktail lounge and morphs gradually into a rocking club throughout the evening.

The High Roller

The world’s tallest ferris wheel at 167 metres high offers the loftiest outlook of the twinkling Strip, Downtown and (during the day) the valley and mountains beyond. The air-conditioned pods can carry up to 40 people each, but less is more if you want to enjoy the view. Pods with fully stocked bars are available and, like pretty much everything in Vegas, it’s better at night.

Nightclubs

Hundreds of venues compete for the evening party dollar make the range of nightclubs diverse and exciting. Talented DJs, flowing vodka and sculptured bodies going-off – this is excess with style.

Check out Fizz Las Vegas at Caesars Place for caviar, fashion and design; Light – created by Cirque du Soleil – at Mandalay Bay for cutting-edge creativity; three pools and an Ibiza-themed attitude; Omnia at Caesars Palace for the hottest of hot DJs and a huge dancefloor; or XS Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas for a large-scale flame, pyrotechnic and laser systems and multi-GRAMMY-nominated artist and producer, Kascade, in residence.

Fremont Street Experience

A comparatively rudimentary drinking scene is on offer in Downtown around Fremont Street, where plastic yard glasses filled with colourful cocktails are a typical walking around accessory. There’s a lot of wild fun to be had here, but expect more twerking than talking, more badass than badinage, more tatts than tales.
